Hello, AREA
Why we're building the modern operations layer for campus and venue event teams — and what we'll be writing about here.
Most event teams have outgrown spreadsheets, but they haven't found anything better. The scheduling system tells them what's booked. Everything that happens around the booking — the staffing, setups, inventory, internal handoffs, day-of changes — still lives in a fragile master spreadsheet that two people understand.
AREA is the system we wish operators had. Built around the way teams actually run events.
What this blog is for
Short, practical notes from the field. The kind of thing you'd jot down after a long event day.
We'll write about:
- Workflows — how real teams handle requests, approvals, and last-minute changes.
- Frameworks — small mental models that help operators make better calls.
- Tactical fixes — the spreadsheet pattern, the staffing gap email template, the day-of checklist.
- What we're learning — as we work with pilot teams, we'll share what we see.
The goal isn't to sell you on AREA in every post. It's to be useful even if you never become a customer.
What this blog is not for
- Buzzwords.
- "Top 10 ways" listicles.
- Anything we wouldn't send to a colleague.
If something we write here helps a single ops manager run their next event a little smoother — that's the bar.
